A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Biztalk Server 2002. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the file rawdocdata.asp/RawCustomSearchField.asp of the component Document Tracking/Administration. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. SQL injection vulnerability in the Document Tracking and Administration (DTA) website of Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 and 2002 allows remote attackers to execute operating system commands via a request to (1) rawdocdata.asp or (2) RawCustomSearchField.asp containing an embedded SQL statement.
The weakness was shared 05/12/2003 by Cesar Cerrudo as MS03-016 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). It is possible to read the advisory at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2003-0118 since 02/26/2003. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

By approaching the search of inurl:rawdocdata.asp/RawCustomSearchField.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses and running in the context r. Applying the patch MS03-016 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at microsoft.com. Attack attempts may be identified with Snort ID 2133. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 34778.
