Details
A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer up to 6 (Web Browser) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component Drag / Drop Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Race condition in Microsoft Internet Explorer allows user-assisted attackers to overwrite arbitrary files and possibly execute code by tricking a user into performing a drag-and-drop action from certain objects, such as file objects within a folder view, then predicting the drag action, and re-focusing to a malicious window.
