A vulnerability has been found in Six Apart Movable Type up to 2.5 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the component Textbox Handler. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Movable Type before 2.6, and possibly other versions including 2.63, allows remote attackers to insert arbitrary web script or HTML via the Name textbox, possibly when the "Allow HTML in comments?" option is enabled.
The weakness was presented 06/16/2003 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2003-0287 since 05/13/2003. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Upgrading to version 2.6 eliminates this vulnerability.
