saned in sane-backends 1.0.7 and earlier does not check the IP address of the connecting host during the SANE_NET_INIT RPC call, which allows remote attackers to use that call even if they are restricted in saned.conf.

The bug was discovered 09/11/2003. The weakness was released 09/22/2003 by Alexander (Website). The advisory is shared for download at debian.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-0773 since 09/10/2003. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
