The Script.prototype.freeze/thaw functionality in Mozilla 1.4 and earlier allows attackers to execute native methods by modifying the string used as input to the script.thaw JavaScript function, which is then deserialized and executed.

The weakness was disclosed 10/07/2003 by Brendan Eich (zen-parse) as Bug 221526 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2003-0791 since 09/17/2003. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
