A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Access 97/2000/2002 (Database Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the component Snapshot Viewer ActiveX Control. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Buffer overflow in the ActiveX control for Microsoft Access Snapshot Viewer for Access 97, 2000, and 2002 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via long parameters to the control.
The weakness was shared 10/20/2003 by Oliver as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2003-0665 since 08/07/2003. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed in ANSI C. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
