A vulnerability has been found in Alwil Software Avast! Antivirus up to 4.6.763 (Anti-Malware Software) and classified as problematic. avast! Antivirus 4.6.763 and earlier sets "BUILTIN\Everyone" permissions to critical system files in the installation folder, which allows local users to gain privileges or disable protection by modifying those files.
The weakness was disclosed 03/20/2006 by toadlife and hpguru (Website). The advisory is shared for download at forum.avast.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-1355 since 03/21/2006. Access to the local network is required for this attack to succeed. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
