A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in webfs 1.17/1.18/1.19/1.20. This affects an unknown functionality of the component Header Field Handler. The manipulation of the argument hostname with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. The weakness was presented 11/17/2003 by Jens Steube (Website). The advisory is shared at debian.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2003-0832 since 09/26/2003. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
