The SSL server implementation in NILE.NLM in Novell NetWare 6.5 and Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES) permits encryption with a NULL key, which results in cleartext communication that allows remote attackers to read an SSL protected session by sniffing network traffic.

The weakness was published 03/22/2006 with Novell (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.novell.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2006-0997 since 03/06/2006. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
