The manipulation as part of a INVITE Message leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) implementation in Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise 5.0 Lx allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted INVITE messages, as demonstrated by the OUSPG PROTOS c07-sip test suite.
The weakness was released 12/31/2003 with Oulu University Secure Programming Group as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2003-1108 since 03/11/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
