A vulnerability has been found in Ingate Siparator up to 3.1.2 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component Session Initiation Protocol. The manipulation as part of a INVITE Message leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) implementation in Ingate Firewall and Ingate SIParator before 3.1.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted INVITE messages, as demonstrated by the OUSPG PROTOS c07-sip test suite.
The weakness was published 12/31/2003 with Oulu University Secure Programming Group as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-1112 since 03/11/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
Upgrading to version 3.1.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
