The default CredentialMapper for BEA WebLogic Server and Express 7.0 and 7.0.0.1 stores passwords in cleartext on disk, which allows local users to extract passwords.
The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2003 by BEA Systems with BEA Systems (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2003-1225 since 08/16/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
