A vulnerability was found in BEA WebLogic Server 7.0/7.0.0.1 (Application Server Software). It has been rated as problematic. BEA WebLogic Server and Express 7.0 and 7.0.0.1 stores certain secrets concerning password encryption insecurely in config.xml, filerealm.properties, and weblogic-rar.xml, which allows local users to learn those secrets and decrypt passwords.
The bug was discovered 05/12/2003. The weakness was presented 12/31/2003 by BEA Systems with BEA Systems (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2003-1226 since 08/16/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack.
