A vulnerability was found in GNU Samba 3.0.21/3.0.21a/3.0.21b/3.0.21c (File Transfer Software). It has been declared as critical. The winbindd daemon in Samba 3.0.21 to 3.0.21c writes the machine trust account password in cleartext in log files, which allows local users to obtain the password and spoof the server in the domain.
The weakness was disclosed 03/30/2006 by Samba Team with Samba Team (Website). The advisory is available at us1.samba.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-1059 since 03/07/2006. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1600 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
