A vulnerability was found in Horde Application Framework up to 3.1.1 (Groupware Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component Help Viewer. Eval injection vulnerability in Horde Application Framework versions 3.0 before 3.0.10 and 3.1 before 3.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via the help viewer.
The bug was discovered 03/29/2006. The weakness was presented 04/03/2006 with Horde Team (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at lists.horde.org. Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at ftp.horde.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Attack attempts may be identified with Snort ID 6403. In this case the pattern /services/help/ is used for detection. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 4099.
