Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Apple Quicktime Streaming Server 4.1.2 (Multimedia Player Software). This affects an unknown code of the file parse_xml.cg. The manipulation of the argument filename with the input value ... leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in parse_xml.cg Apple Darwin Streaming Server 4.1.2 and Apple Quicktime Streaming Server 4.1.1 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a ... (triple dot) in the filename paramter.
