A vulnerability has been found in cPanel 9.1.0 R85 (Hosting Control Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file testfile.html. The manipulation of the argument ip with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-79. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in cPanel 9.1.0-R85 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) email parameter to testfile.html, (2) file parameter to erredit.html, (3) dns parameter to dnslook.html, (4) account parameter to ignorelist.html, (5) account parameter to showlog.html, (6) db parameter to repairdb.html, (7) login parameter to doaddftp.html (8) account parameter to editmsg.htm, or (9) ip parameter to del.html. NOTE: the dnslook.html vector was later reported to exist in cPanel 10.
The bug was discovered 03/12/2004. The weakness was disclosed 03/13/2004 by Aria-Security Team (Sullo) (Website). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-1875 since 05/04/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
