A vulnerability was found in cPanel (Hosting Control Software) (the affected version is unknown). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code of the file erredit.html. The manipulation of the argument file with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Impacted is integrity.
The bug was discovered 03/12/2004. The weakness was presented 03/13/2004 by Sullo (Website). The advisory is shared at cirt.net. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
