A vulnerability was found in Francisco Burzi PHP-Nuke up to 7.2 (Content Management System). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function cookiedecode of the file mainfile.php. The manipulation of the argument user with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the cookiedecode function in mainfile.php for PHP-Nuke 6.x through 7.2, when themes are used, allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a base64-encoded user parameter or cookie.

The weakness was presented 04/12/2004 by Janek Vind with waraxe (Website). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-1930 since 05/04/2005. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
