A vulnerability was found in Francisco Burzi PHP-Nuke up to 7.2 (Content Management System). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file auth.php. The manipulation of the argument admin with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in (1) auth.php and (2) admin.php in PHP-Nuke 6.x through 7.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL code and create an administrator account via base64-encoded SQL in the admin parameter.
The weakness was shared 04/12/2004 by Janek Vind "waraxe" (Website). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1932 since 05/04/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
A public exploit has been developed by iko94 and been published 6 months after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:auth.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
