A vulnerability was found in Siemens SINEC INS up to 1.0 SP2. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the component Web Based Management/SFTP Server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. A vulnerability has been identified in SINEC INS (All versions < V1.0 SP2 Update 1). An authenticated remote attacker with access to the Web Based Management (443/tcp) of the affected product as well as with access to the SFTP server of the affected product (22/tcp), could potentially read and write arbitrary files from and to the device's file system. An attacker might leverage this to trigger remote code execution on the affected component.
The weakness was released 01/10/2023 as ssa-332410. It is possible to read the advisory at cert-portal.siemens.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2022-45093 since 11/09/2022. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
Applying the patch 1.0 SP2 Update 1 is able to eliminate this problem.
