A vulnerability was found in PROPS 0.6.1 and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file do_search.php. The manipulation of the argument search_string with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in do_search.php in PROPS 0.6.1 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML or web script via the search_string parameter.
The weakness was presented 04/30/2004 by Manuel Lopez (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-1979 since 05/04/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
