Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in AWStats 6.5 1.857 (Log Management Software). This affects an unknown code of the file awstats.pl of the component Config Handler. The manipulation of the argument config with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in awstats.pl in AWStats 6.5 build 1.857 and earlier allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) refererpagesfilter, (2) refererpagesfilterex, (3) urlfilterex, (4) urlfilter, (5) hostfilter, or (6) hostfilterex parameters, a different set of vectors than CVE-2006-1945.
