A vulnerability was found in LBL tcpdump 3.8.1 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is an unknown part of the component ISAKMP Dissector. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. TCPDUMP 3.8.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via ISAKMP packets containing a Delete payload with a large number of SPI s, which causes an out-of-bounds read, as demonstrated by the Striker ISAKMP Protocol Test Suite.
The bug was discovered 03/30/2004. The weakness was disclosed 05/04/2004 with Rapid7 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org.
