A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Adam Webb Nukejokes 1.7/2.0 Beta. This affects the function CatView/JokeView of the file modules.php. The manipulation of the argument cat/jokeid with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in modules.php in NukeJokes 1.7 and 2 Beta allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML or web script via the (1) cat parameter in a CatView function or (2) jokeid parameter in a JokeView function.
The weakness was published 05/08/2004 by Janek Vind with waraxe (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com.
