Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Subversion 1.0/1.0.1/1.0.2/1.0.3/1.0.4. Affected by this issue is the function libsvn_ra_svn of the component svn Protocol Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-122. A heap overflow condition is a buffer overflow, where the buffer that can be overwritten is allocated in the heap portion of memory, generally meaning that the buffer was allocated using a routine such as malloc(). Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
libsvn_ra_svn in subversion 1.0.4 trusts the length field of (1) svn:// (2) svn+ssh:// and (3) other svn protocol url strings which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) and possibly execute arbitrary code via an integer overflow that leads to a heap-based buffer overflow.
