A vulnerability was found in AWStats 6.4/6.5 (Log Management Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function open. The manipulation of the argument migrate with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The web interface for AWStats 6.4 and 6.5, when statistics updates are enabled, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via shell metacharacters in the migrate parameter.
