Affected is an unknown code block of the component Comments Module/Notes Module. The manipulation of the argument CM_pid/subject/message with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in phpWebsite 0.9.3-4 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) CM_pid parameter in the comments module or (2) the subject or message fields in the notes module.
The weakness was presented 09/01/2004 with Gulftech (Website). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2004-1655 since 02/21/2005. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
