A vulnerability was found in Rob Flynn Gaim (Messaging Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function strncpy of the file object.c/slp.c of the component Protocol Plugin. Buffer overflow in the MSN protocol plugins (1) object.c and (2) slp.c for Gaim before 0.82 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via MSNSLP protocol messages that are not properly handled in a strncpy call.
The weakness was shared 09/28/2004 by infamous41md with SuSE Security Team (Website). The advisory is available at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2004-0500 since 05/27/2004.
