The Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) implementation in CUPS before 1.1.21 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (service hang) via a certain UDP packet to the IPP port.

The weakness was published 09/28/2004 by Martin as Bug 2072 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.fedora.us. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-0558 since 06/14/2004. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
