A recommended admin password reset mechanism for BEA WebLogic Server 8.1, when followed before October 10, 2005, causes the administrator password to be stored in cleartext in the domain directory, which could allow attackers to gain privileges.
The weakness was presented 05/16/2006 with BEA (Website). The advisory is available at dev2dev.bea.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2006-2546 since 05/22/2006. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
