A vulnerability was found in eSeSIX Thintune Extreme up to 2.4.38. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown function. eSeSIX Thintune thin clients running firmware 2.4.38 and earlier allow local users to gain privileges by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ALT-DEL and entering the "maertsJ" password, which is hard-coded into lshell.
The bug was discovered 05/29/2004. The weakness was disclosed 07/24/2004 by Dirk Loss (Website). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-2050 since 05/04/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available.
