A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in IBM DB2 Universal Database up to 8 FP12 (Database Software). This issue affects an unknown code block. Buffer overflow in the TCP/IP listener in IBM DB2 Universal Database (UDB) before 8.1 FixPak 12 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a long MGRLVLLS message inside of an EXCSAT message when establishing a connection.
The bug was discovered 04/18/2006. The weakness was published 06/14/2006 by Amichai Shulman, Ohad Atia and Elad Tabak with IBM (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at www-1.ibm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-3066 since 06/19/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1499 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
