A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Netwin Surgeldap 1.0d/1.0e/1.0g (Directory Service Software). This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file user.cgi. The manipulation of the argument page with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in user.cgi in SurgeLDAP 1.0g and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. in the page parameter of the show command.
The weakness was presented 12/31/2004 by Dr_insane (Website). The advisory is available at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-2253 since 07/17/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
