A vulnerability was found in cPanel up to 9.1 (Hosting Control Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file dohtaccess.html of the component dohtaccess.html. The manipulation of the argument dir with an unknown input leads to a html injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in cPanel 9.1.0 and possibly earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the dir parameter in dohtaccess.html.
The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2004 by Fable (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-2308 since 08/16/2005.
