Unspecified vulnerability in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) before 6.0.2.11, when fileServingEnabled is true, allows remote attackers to obtain JSP source code and other sensitive information via "URIs with special characters."
The weakness was disclosed 06/21/2006 with IBM (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-1.ibm.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-3231 since 06/26/2006. The attack can only be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86741 (IBM Websphere Application Server Prior to 6.0.2.11 Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at www-1.ibm.com.
