The weakness was disclosed 06/21/2006 with IBM (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-1.ibm.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-3231 since 06/26/2006. The attack can only be done within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86741 (IBM Websphere Application Server Prior to 6.0.2.11 Multiple Vulnerabilities).

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at www-1.ibm.com.
