Unspecified vulnerability in IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) before 6.0.2.11, when fileServingEnabled is true, allows remote attackers to obtain JSP source code and other sensitive information via "URIs with special characters."
The weakness was presented 06/21/2006 with IBM (Website). The advisory is shared at www-1.ibm.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-3231 since 06/26/2006. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86741 (IBM Websphere Application Server Prior to 6.0.2.11 Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at www-1.ibm.com.
