A vulnerability was found in Sophos Anti-Virus up to 5.0 (Anti-Malware Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects the function archive::zip of the component Virus Protection. Archive::Zip Perl module before 1.14, when used by antivirus programs such as amavisd-new, allows remote attackers to bypass antivirus protection via a compressed file with both local and global headers set to zero, which does not prevent the compressed file from being opened on a target system.
The weakness was published 01/10/2005 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2004-1096 since 11/30/2004.
