Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 (ASP.NET) in Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP1 and SP2, and Server 2003 up to SP1 allows remote attackers to bypass access restrictions via unspecified "URL paths" that can access Application Folder objects "explicitly by name."
The bug was discovered 07/11/2006. The weakness was released 07/11/2006 by Urs Eichmann with PRISMA Informatik as MS06-033 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). Applying the patch MS06-033 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Attack attempts may be identified with Snort ID 16048. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 4533.
