A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Mozilla Thunderbird up to 0.9 (Mail Client Software). Affected is an unknown code block of the file network.cookie.disablecookieformailnews. This is going to have an impact on integrity. CVE summarizes:
Thunderbird 0.6 through 0.9 and Mozilla 1.7 through 1.7.3 does not obey the network.cookie.disableCookieForMailNews preference, which could allow remote attackers bypass the user s intended privacy and security policy by using cookies in e-mail messages.
The bug was discovered 01/31/2005. The weakness was disclosed 02/15/2005 by Jesse Ruderman as Bug 268107 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2005-0149 since 01/25/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
