A vulnerability was found in PHP Arena paFileDB 3.1 (Programming Language Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function jumpmenu of the file functions.php. The manipulation of the argument pageurl with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the jumpmenu function in functions.php for paFileDB 3.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the URL parameters, which is not properly cleansed in the $pageurl variable, as demonstrated using pafiledb.php.
The bug was discovered 03/08/2005. The weakness was shared 03/08/2005 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com.
