A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 2.6.21 (Operating System). It has been classified as problematic. Buffer overflow in the MoxaDriverIoctl function for the moxa serial driver (moxa.c) in Linux 2.2.x, 2.4.x, and 2.6.x before 2.6.22 allows local users to execute arbitrary code via a certain modified length value.

The bug was discovered 01/10/2005. The weakness was released 03/14/2005 by Brad Spengler (spender) with grsecurity (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-0504 since 02/22/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally.
