Firefox before 1.0 and Mozilla before 1.7.5 allow remote attackers to obtain sensitive data from the clipboard via Javascript that generates a middle-click event on systems for which a middle-click performs a paste operation.

The bug was discovered 01/31/2005. The weakness was disclosed 05/02/2005 by Jesse Ruderman (Website). The advisory is available at redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2005-0146 since 01/25/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 15 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
