A vulnerability has been found in Apache HTTP Server up to 2.2.3 on Windows (Web Server) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component mod_alias. Apache 2.2.2, when running on Windows, allows remote attackers to read source code of CGI programs via a request that contains uppercase (or alternate case) characters that bypass the case-sensitive ScriptAlias directive, but allow access to the file on case-insensitive file systems.

The bug was discovered 08/08/2006. The weakness was disclosed 08/11/2006 by Susam Pal with Infosys Technologies Ltd. as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-4110 since 08/14/2006. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
