Details
A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox up to 1.0.2 (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The native implementations of InstallTrigger and other functions in Firefox before 1.0.3 and Mozilla Suite before 1.7.7 do not properly verify the types of objects being accessed, which causes the Javascript interpreter to continue execution at the wrong memory address, which may allow attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code by passing objects of the wrong type.
The bug was discovered 04/16/2005. The weakness was shared 05/02/2005 by Juha-Matti Laurio as Bug 290162 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla).
