The Unidirectional Lightweight Encapsulation (ULE) decapsulation component in dvb-core/dvb_net.c in the dvb driver in the Linux kernel 2.6.17.8 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via an SNDU length of 0 in a ULE packet.
The bug was discovered 08/21/2006. The weakness was shared 09/11/2006 by Ang Way Chuang (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at lkml.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-4623 since 09/07/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
