A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Orenosv Orenosv Http Ftp Server 0.8.1 (File Transfer Software). Affected is the function parse_cmd of the file http/ftp of the component FTP Command. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Multiple buffer overflows in Orenosv HTTP/FTP Server 0.8.1 allow remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (server crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via long arguments to FTP commands such as MKD, RMD, or DELE, which are processed by the (1) ftp_xlate_path, (2) ftp_is_canonical, or (3) os_fn_nativize functions, or (4) a long SSI command that is processed by the parse_cmd function in cgissi.exe.
The weakness was disclosed 05/08/2005 by Tan Chew Keong (Website). The advisory is shared for download at security.org.sg. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2005-1666 since 05/18/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
