Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Scrapy up to 2.10. Affected is an unknown code of the component API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a redos vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-1333. The product uses a regular expression with an inefficient, possibly exponential worst-case computational complexity that consumes excessive CPU cycles. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
Parts of the Scrapy API were found to be vulnerable to a ReDoS attack. Handling a malicious response could cause extreme CPU and memory usage during the parsing of its content, due to the use of vulnerable regular expressions for that parsing.
The weakness was published 02/28/2024 as 479619b340f197a8f24c5db45bc068fb8755f2c5. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2024-1892 since 02/26/2024.
