Details
A vulnerability was found in Cacti up to 0.8.6e (Log Management Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown function of the file config.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
config.php in Cacti 0.8.6e and earlier allows remote attackers to set the no_http_headers switch, then modify session information to gain privileges and disable the use of addslashes to conduct SQL injection attacks.
The bug was discovered 07/04/2005. The weakness was presented 07/06/2005 by Stefan Esser with Hardened PHP Project (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at hardened-php.net. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-2149 since 07/06/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
