A vulnerability was found in NullSoft WinAmp 5.3/5.24 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been rated as critical. Multiple heap-based buffer overflows in AOL Nullsoft WinAmp before 5.31 allow user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted (1) ultravox-max-msg header to the Ultravox protocol handler or (2) unspecified Lyrics3 tags.

The bug was discovered 10/19/2006. The weakness was released 10/25/2006 by Ligen with iDefense Labs (Website). The advisory is shared for download at winamp.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-5567 since 10/27/2006. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
